MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING

TIMARU CLUB W. BRADSHAW SECURES CHAMPIONSHIP No. 19 match was fired on Monday evening. This was the final shoot for the Club Championship Silver Rifle, Burns Cup and S. H. Parker Cup. Bradshaw registered 79 and C. Blackwood 68. which gave him the tie for last week’s silver rifle, and placed them level for the silver rifle trophy with four wins each. Bradshaw won the Club championship by two points with an aggregate of 952 out of a possible 960 for 12 matches. C. H. Johnson won the B grade championship by six points from R. Holland, who shot consistently. The final shoot-off for No. 17 match was won by D. J. Bennington, while a tie for No. 18 was reduced to G. Drew and W. H. Head, who will fire off next week. Some of the competitions cannot be definitely listed until after the official checking of the Hayhurst Shield targets. The second round of the Hayhurst Shield will be fired in conjunction with No. 20 match next Monday, the prize for which has been presented by Mr J. F. Lewis. Green and the silver button by R. Karst. Mr H. Taylor’s trophy was won by G. Sargission. GLEN-ITI CLUB. The championship of the Glen-iti Miniature Rifle Club was concluded on Monday night. In the A. Grade championship J. Hull had a lead of two points from C. Paine, who had possibles to his credit in the last two shoots. Paine shot first and secured practically a perfect possible. Hull had a big task in front of him, but he also secured the possible. In the shoot off for the button Hull again secured the possible, following this with a 79. The Pleasant Point Miniature Rifle Club fired the final shoot of the championship series on Monday night. The Bowman weekly button and a trophy given by Mr R. Doake were won by M. Roberts, with 74 (6), 75 (5), 76 (4). Miss A. Macßean was runner-up with 73, 76, 75. E. Chapman and W. T. Taylor tied for the Wilson bullet each with 80. In the shoot off Taylor made a second possible. Scores off the rifle were—W. T. Taylor 80, E. Chapman 80, M. Patrick 79, J. Stevenson 79, R. Mcllwrick 79, C. Thoreau 78, K. Hammond 78, A. Wooffindin was the winner of the B. grade with 1143, followed by C. Halkett 1138, D. Doake 1136, A. Oborn 1136 and V. McMurtrie 1135. The ladies’ championship will be completed next week. For the Bowman weekly button, 20 competitors tied with one win each.
