A GOOD MARKET. Large entries of fat sheep, cattle and pigs were yarded for yesterday’s sale at Temuka, and the quality all round was much better than has been the case at recent sales. Fat Cattle.—An entry of 45 well finished beasts sold at late rates. The best price for steers was £lO 15s for a bullock weighing more than 10001 b. Several good Shorthorn cows were in the best making £7 17s 6d. The range of prices was:—Best steers to £lO 15s, good steers £7 to £8 2s 6d, light steers £4 to £5 15s, cows, extra good. £6 17s 6d to £7 17s 6d, medium cows £2 17s 6d to £4. fat heifers £3 15s to £5 15s. Store Cattle.—A small yarding sold at the rates ruling at late sales, cows making from )Jls to 20s, yearling heifers 26s to 335, heifer calves to 13s, empty heifers £1 12s 6d to £2 12s 6d. Dairy Cattle.—This was the only section of the sale that did not meet with much competition, all classes being hard to sell. Values were: Heifers In profit £2 to £3 10s, springing heifers £2 10s to £5. Fat Sheep.—More than two full races were yarded, and animated bidding on wethers and ewes was noticed throughout the sale. Fat wethers made from 22/6 to 30s. the best fat ewes made to 28s, other ewes selling from 18s to 235. Fat hoggets sold from 14s to 16s 3d. Store Sheep.—Late rates were maintained for store sheep. Sales made were: Small ewe hoggets 14s 6d, wether hoggets 9s 7d to 11s, cross-bred wethers 17s to 20s. Pigs.—The entry was the largest for some time, more than 150 head of all grades coming forward. Weaners, slips and stores were up by about 3s a head, but baconers appeared to be neglected. Values were:—Weaners 9s to 15s. slips 12s to 20s, stores 18s to 245, porkers 30s to 355, baconers 37s 6d to £2 6s. Horses. —A yearling colt by Rldgbank Chancellor realised 28 guineas, fouryear draught mare -£32. and a threeyear draught gelding £37. A gelding, spring dray, and harness sold at £2l 10s.
