PERSONAL. Mr W. Flannery, of Dunedin, Is relieving Mr Brittendon, a member of the clerical staff at the Temuka railway station. Mr and Mrs Styles and family, of Southland, are the guests of .Mrs Styles’ parents, Mr and Mrs D. B. Muir, Railway Terrace. DANCE AT WAITOHI. In spite of the rain last Thursday night there was a good attendance at the dance held by the Waitohi Women’s Institute, in aid of the piano fund. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Mavis Goodwin and Mr J. Goodwin. An extra was played by Mr T. McGeorge. FRIENDLY FRIDAYS. The last match but one in the “Friendly Friday” tournament took place in the Druids Hall on Friday evening, the result leaving the teams in a very interesting position. Druids with a total of 960 points now have a lead of 12 points from the Citizens and Oddfellows who are equal with 948, Hibernians are fourth with 918. In the individual cribbage aggregate W. Ross, B. Maclachlan, and H. Harrison are equal with 163 points, the next in order being J. Gourley with 154. E. Larsen leads in the euchre section with a score of 122, L. G. Totals: Hibernians 62, Oddfellows 49. GOLF. The final of the senior golf championship was played over 36 holes on Saturday between C. L. Fraser and W. Smart, the latter winning by 5 and 4. In the morning rounds Fraser played excellently, Ills putting belng brilliant. Smart played indifferently and was one down at the eighteenth. In the afternoon Smart at once struck form. His tee shots were invariably 30 yards longer than those of his opponent, and his approaching was uncanny. Fraser, who is a much older man tired, and his play suffered in consequence. At the end of the first round he was four down. Smart won the first hole of the final round, and Fraser took “the Gap.” The next was halved, but Smart won the next two, thus winning the championship for the second year In succession.
