WILL VINES BECOME PROFESSIONAL?
TEMPTING OFFER RECEIVED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrlgnt (Received June 25, 6.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 24. The repeated rumour that Vines is planning to turn professional soon, was partially substantiated to-day when it was learned that the Tennis Corporation, which promotes professional exhibitions of William Tilden and other leading players, known as the “Tilden Troupe,” was prepared *o offer the Californian 100,000 dollars to join the troupe next season. Press despatches from London quote Vines as saying he would certainly give the offer serious consideration, but is now playing amateur tennis and had made no definite decision to play professionally.
