ASSOCIATION'S COMPETITIONS. SATURDAY'S FIXTURES. Another series of games in the South Canterbury Hockey Association’s competitions was played on Saturday in bleak weather. MEN’S SECTION. SOUTH END A V. CAMBRIDGE B. Both sides were short-handed and consequently offside breaches were numerous. South End opened their account from a goal by F. O’Connor. E. Sanders immediately added another. S. Hughes met no opposition when he scored the third goal. F. O'Connor ran through from halfway and netted. Sanders repeated the movement a moment later. South End now had the upper hand and Hughes (4) and F. O’Connor added to the score before the interval: South End A 10, Cambridge 3 6. Cambridge played better in the second spell and kept the scoring within bounds. F. O’Connor ran through and netted again. The last score came from S. Hughes’ stick. The final scores were:— South End A 12 Cambridge 6 Messrs L. Davies and W. Gow controlled the game. TRINITY v. CAMBRIDGE. Cambridge broke away from the bully off and W. Mitchell scored from a forward rush—a fine goal: Cambridge 1, Trinity 0. Trinity then laur.jhed an attack on the Blue goal, being stopped by Annear. Cambridge forwards went away, Annear's shot going wide. Watt took the ball through to the circle, where Rennett saved. Flay was now exciting and fast, both sides narrowly missing scoring goals. Cambridge broke away, a shot by Mitchell going wide. Halftime came with the scores: Cambridge 1 Trinity o ' Cambridge attacked, McLauchlan saving. Trinity then took a hand at attacking, Tooth's shot at goal being stopped by Rennett. C. Mitchell added another goal from a forward movement and W. Mitchell added another almost immediately. Cambridge 3. Trinity 0. Cambridge was going well and C. Mitchell added another one. Cambridge 4, Trinity 0. G. Hughes h: d a shot but the ball hit the post. From the rebound Goodman made no mistake. Cambridge 5 Trinity o The referees were Messrs L. Davies and W. Gow. WOMEN’S SECTION. RATA A v. STAFFORD 11. Stafford made the play from the outset and Miss Weir scored from a pass by Miss Roberts. A rush by the Stafford forwards saw Miss Weir net again. Stafford forced the pace after half-time and Miss Weir scored twice. Stafford 4 Rata o Messrs S. Johnstone and L. Waters refereed. RATA B v. STAFFORD I. Stafford were too strong for Rata and ran out winners by eight goals to six. The scorers were Misses W. Lindsay (3), E. Lindsay (2), Williamson (2) and Johnston (1). Rata did not enhance their handicap. The referees were Messrs Johnstone and Waters.
