WOMEN’S DIVISION
ALBURY BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Albury Branch of the Women’s Division was held in a room kindly lent by Mrs Major last Tuesday' evening. Miss Fraser presided over a large attendance of members. Information concerning the Bush Nurse and Housekeepers’ Auxiliary was read. The president brought forward the new monthly journal called the New Zealand Country Woman, the official organ of the Division. Miss Fraser pointed out that the Division sewing woman was at present in the district. Arrangements were put in hand for the anniversary to be held on 17th August. The cake is in the hands of Mrs Naughton, and quite a number of gifts came forward for the local unemployed camp. A competition, which was judged by Mrs Fagan, of Waimate, assisted by Mrs Davidson, resulted as follows: Plate of shortbread, Mrs Naughton 1, Mrs I. H. Smith 2. Knitted article from not less than three skeins of New Zealand wool, Mrs Cox 1. Miss Fraser 2. Mrs W. Fraser proposed a hearty vote of thanks to both judges. It was decided to have a knitted novelty and plate of pikelets for July meeting. Miss Fraser gave a demonstration on knitting bed socks. The newly-formed Dramatic Circle then joined, and supper was partaken of. Mr R. McLean proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the Women’s Division for displaying such a fine supper for the Dramatic Club.
