PARERA WEST SCHOOL CONCERT. A successful concert and dance was held in the Otipua Hall on 2nd June in aid of the Pareora West school funds. The large audience which filled ‘.he hall, showed their appreciation of ,he excellent items. The first half of .he evening was taken up by the children the programme being as folows:—Songs, “God of Nations” and “Maori Canoe Song,” by the school :hildren; infants' recitations, S. Tregonning, P. Ellems, F. McTague and L. Tate; “Japanese Fan,” song,, senior girls; dialogue, “A n’ordinary Boy,” J. Gilsenan and Q. Priest; song. “Land of I Don’t Know Where,” school; recitation, “Tit For Tat.” M. Hoare; song, “The Five Pigs,” by infants, the pigs being J. Gilsenan. D. Smith, L. Hoare, W. Smith and F. McTague; songs, “Fairey Glade” and "Will You go to Sherriffmuer” by seniors; recitation, “Up at Lords,” L. McKenna; song. “Bird in Hand,” senior girls, assisted by three ex-girls, J. Stowell. C. Gibson and H. Coupland; song. "Lazy Boy.” J. Gilsenan being the “Lazy Boy," singers M. Hoare, S. Tregonning, P. McKenna, J. Arden. A. Brosnan, F. McTague, N. Tregonning, Q. Priest, D. Smith. L. Hoare. K. Gilsenan, D. Caldwell. L. Tate, W. Smith. P. Ellems and Don Smith; play, “EUie in Fairyland,” I. Stowell “Ellie,” P. Rayner “Nurse,” E. Priest “Fairy Queen.” “Fairies.” R. Hoare, E. Wilkins. E. White, J. Hoare. M. Gilsenan and O. Priest ; song, “Golden Vanity,” school: “Blind Boxing,” flyweight, R. Coupland and F. Hoare, heavyweight. P. Jackson and L. McKenna. The second part of the programme was as follows: Highland dancing by Misses Oliphant. Mackay. Bonham and Donaldson; songs by Mrs D. Tobin, Miss A. Arnold and Mr C. Jackson and Mr L. O'Donohue; recitations. Miss L. Rissell; yodelling by Mr T. Hertnon. The adults’ items were much appreciated. Accompaniments were played by Misses N. O’Donohue. E. Jackson and A. Stowell and Highland music by Pipers Mclnness and Smillie. The chairman. Mr W. H. Arden, thanked all present for coming in such large numbers, and also the Timaru artists who helped to make the programme a success. He also thanked the teachers, Miss R. M. Cowie and Mr L. Dalv, for their great efforts and Miss A. Stowell for her helpful assistance. Refreshments were partaken of and dancing was enjoyed till two a.m. Mr V'. Hoare carried out the duties of M.
