The question of the amalgamation of counties in the Wairarapa is likely to receive some prominence at the next meeting of the District Highways Council. The view taken in connection with a recent communication from the New Zealand Counties’ Association on the subject of amalgamation, stated the Akitio County Council's letter, was that if conclusive proof was given that the amalgamation of the various counties would prove to be beneficial, if carried out, then- the Akitio Council would support it. It was considered that the impendingmeeting of the District Highways Council might present a suitable opportunity for discussion and possibly the ventilation of the views of counties In tile Wairarapa.
