DREADED ’FLU
EPIDEMIC IN BRITAIN. British Official Wireless (Received December 30, 5.5 pm.) RUGBY, December 29. Reports from various parts of the country indicate that an influenza epidemic has assumed considerable proportions, and although it is stated not to be so dangerous as that of three years ago, there were thirty deaths from influenza last week. In Birmingham, over 1000 workers in various public services are absent from duty. According to the public health department of the London County Council, the position in the metropolis is nothing out of the ordinary for the time of the year.
