It transpires that Judge Roos took the plunge without consulting General Smuts, and consequently a Coalition is impracticable at present. General Smuts is on a shooting trip. All his supporters pledge themselves not to allow him to be side-tracked.
General Hertzog has advised his supporters that the session would last three weeks, which is accepted as anticipation of defeat.
