NIGHT FOOTBALL
FAILURE IN ENGLAND. LONDON, December 15. Football under floodlights was tried in England, and newspapers declare that it will never be popular, and that the Rugby League experiment had failed. Oculists, it is claimed, are likely to derive the most benefit from such' artificiality. Spectators were unable to see the distant play, and it was obvious that the players could not sight one another properly. Even Jim Sullivan’s fielding was poor. Soccer, to which the association has given permission for a trial match, will be harder to play under lights, because, it is stated, the feet are more prone to mistakes than the hands.
