REPLIES TO QUESTIONS. British Official Wireless RUGBY, December 21. Disarmament Conference. Answering a question in the House of Commons, Captain R. A. Eden (Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs) said Mr Arthur Henderson, President of the Disarmament Conference, had accepted an invitation to attend any further meeting of the Five Powers, on the subject of Disarmament. British Preference. Asked whether, in view of the opinions expressed by various Chambers of Commerce, the Government would now enter upon a policy designed to abrogate existing treaties, and enable all colonies to give effective preference to Britain, Major D. J. Colville said it was proposed to consult the organisations representing trade generally as soon as the relevant facts could be put before them. Air Mail Service. Sir Philip Sassoon, in reply to a question, said it was impossible to give a definite forecast regarding the proposed British-Australia air mail, but it was believed that it would be in operation within a few months of taking the decision. The interim offer of the Royal Dutch Indian Airways to provide a service pending the establishment of the British-Australian air mail service was under consideration. The Government was in consultation with the Australian Government.
