THE WEATHER. A thick fog hung over Geraldine on Saturday morning, but it lifted later. The weather continued dull and overcast, with a few light showers during the afternoon. Late in the evening a heavy fog was followed by light rain. Early yesterday morning a steady downpour set in, with the result that the gauge at Mr B. R. Macdonald’s registered 58 points at 9 a.m. Three points were registered on Saturday morning, a total of 61 points since the weather broke. Steady shower continued throughout the day. W.C.T.U. At a meeting of the Geraldine Branch of the Women’s Christian Temperence Union, the president (Mrs F. H. P. Wallach), occupied the chair. "There was an attendance of twenty-six ladles, including six from the Temuka branch. The District President gave an interesting address on the Union’s motto and its meaning. The president gave a lengthy report on the proceedings at the annual Dominion Convention which were most encouraging and inspiring to members of the Union. Afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames H. Broad, A.. F. Barrell and W. Bell. Miss Bell gave two enjoyable musical items during the afternoon. LADIES’ HOCKEY CLUB. The annual meeting of the Geraldine Ladies’ Hockey Club was held In the pavilion on Friday evening, when there was a small attendance. Miss M. Vincent was voted to the chair. The annual report stated, inter alia, that Club had played in competition and tournament matches, but had been unsuccessful. friendly matches had been played against Temuka and the Alpine Club, Fairlie, Geraldine being defeated on both occasions. A match arranged against Mayfield had been postponed owing to the weather. The Club expressed its thanks to Mesdames. J. M. H. Tripp and W. A. Sherratt and Mr T. D. Burnett. M.P., for donations, xnd also to Mr Bowkett for the use of his blackboard. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £6/6/6. The report and balance sheet were rdopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P.; president, Mrs W. A. Sherratt; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. M. H. I'ripp, P. W. Hislop, B. R. Macdonald, j. F. oursey, and Miss C. Rule, md Messrs J. D. McKechnle, J. R. Lack and L. R. King; club captain. Miss M. Vincent; hon. secretary. Miss E. Patrick; hon. treasurer, Miss K. Goodeve; selectors, captain and vicecaptain; delegates to the Geraldine Hockey Sub-Association, Misses K. Goodeve and E. Patrick; committee Misses K. Goodeve, M. McShane, P. (timber, e. Patrick and G. Walker. The election of field captain and coach was held over. The subscription was fixed at 2/6. the Olub to pay travelling expenses when over 2/-. Miss L. Cain’s resignation was received with regret. Misses Hooper, Mr McShane, and Cochrane were elected new members. The secretary was instructed to write inviting the Temuka Club to play a friendly game on April 28th. John R. Procter, Ltd., representative will be making one of his usual visits to Geraldine on Wednesday, 27th April. Appointments can be made now by 'phoning Mr Morris-Williams
