BRITAIN’S PROTEST
OBJECTION TO PROPOSED AMERICAN LAW. British Official Wireless (Received January 27, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, January 26. The British Ambassador at Washington made protest to the United States Government against the terms of the Bill, which Senator King of Utah, is introducing in the Senate today. The Bill would empower officials to board foreign steamships in United States ports, and remove or deport seamen of races ineligible for United States citizenship. The measure is directed primarily against Asiatics. Other European countries, it is understood, have also entered protests.
