DEATH OF MR P. V. SEGAR.
MEDICAL EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. Medical evidence touching the death of Mr. Percy Segar was heard by the District Coroner (Mr. C. R. OrrWalker) at the Courthouse yesterday. Dr. R. D. King stated that he had made a post portem examination of the body, and found that deceased had been suffering from extensive pericarditis. There was also evidence of old pleurisy of the right lung. There was* a marked enlargement of a persistent thymus gland. Other organs appeared normal. The cause of death was status lympha.ticus, due to the persistency of the thymus gland. This was a disease rarely discovered during life. It had the effect of causing death on sudden exertion or excitement. In children it could be traced by X-ray. but in adults it was practically impossible to discover in life without an operation. The disease usually disappeared at the age of two years. The Coroner’s finding was in ocooi4ance with the medical evidence.
