GAS POISONING. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. January 27. Herbert Edwin Le Grove (55). formerly of the “Hansard” staff, was found dead at his residence in Tinakori Road this morning. At the inquest. Mr T. B. McNeill, S.M.. Coroner, returned a verdict that deceased died from gas poisoning selfadministered. while in a depressed mental condition. BATHER DROWNED. By Telegraph—Pres* Association CHRISTCHURCH, January 27. The body of the man found in the Waimakariri yesterday has been Identified as that of Donald Sutherland of Belfast. At the inquest on Donald Sutherland (30). married, with four children, the evidence showed that he was drowned while bathing in the Waimakariri river yesterday. He sank suddenly, and his brother, who was a poor swimmer, could not get him until assistance arrived, when it was too late. DEAD MAN IDENTIFIED. The man found unconscious on the railway line at Sockburn last evening and who died later has been identified as William Walter Oliver (75), a pensioner of Templeton. He is believed to have fallen from a train. CLERGYMAN DROWNED By Telegraph—Press Association ADELAIDE. January 27. Tlie Rev. H. Joyce (46), chairman of the South Australian Congregational Union, was drowned on the Middleton Beach. Five other bathers, including Mr Joyce’s daughter, had narrow escapes.
