PERSONAL.
Mr J. E. Stevens, late director of the School for the Deaf at Sumner, returned by the Makura, after several years spent in Europe. The Rev. Father M. A. Murphy, who has been in charge of the Catholic parish of Napier for the past six years, has been transferred to Timaru. He will be succeeded by the Very Rev. Dean Holley, of Timaru. Lieutenant J. W. Tweedie. of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, arrived in Wellington by the Remuera. He is to be junior aide-de-camp to His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe. An official wireless message from Rugby reports that the King has approved the appointment of Sir Thomas Inskip, Solicitor-General to be Attorney-General in succession to Sir William Jowitt, and Sir Frank Merriman to be Solicitor-General.
