DEATH IN HOSPITAL.
COONOOR ROAD TRAGEDY. ACCUSED AGAIN REMANDED. With the death of Robert Galvin Nesbitt, at Timaru Public Hospital, at 4.30 yesterday morning, the circumstances concerning his injuries have taken a very serious turn, and it is expected that the charges against John Henry Fitzger-ald, and Thomas Cox will include one of a grave nature. The dying man’s condition necessitated a sitting of the Police Court at the hospital on Sunday night, at which Cox and Fitzgerald, were charged with robbing Nesbitt of £l7, and with using personal violence. Accused were remanded to appear yesterday morning, when Messrs D. McLennan and A. P. Greenfield, Justices of the Peace, were on the Bench. In addition to the charge of robbery and violence. Cox was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car in Coonoor Road on April 4, and Fitzgerald with being drunk in a public place, and with resisting Constable W. W. Devine in the lawful execution of his duty. Inspector A. S. Bird asked for a remand until Tuesday, April 14th, this being granted. Mr A. D. Mcßae, counsel for accused, asked for bail on account of Cox. An objection was entered by the police, and the application was declined.
