EARTHQUAKE NEWS.
NAPIER CENTRE OF INTEREST. By Telegraph—Press Assoclation. NAPIER, April 4. Napier is indeed thankful that yesterday’s storm did not include the 'quake damaged town. Yesterday was fine, but rain started this morning, 17 points falling before daylight. The weather is now brightening. Many visitors inspected the damage yesterday, strange cars, full of spec-] tators, being present in dozens. Incoming trains were delayed by the rain. The chief comment of visitors, who include many who knew old Napier well, was one of gratification at the wonderful progress made towards restoration in face of terrible difficulties. The community shops in Clive Square and Memorial Square were much admired in their semi-tropical setting of palms. Yesterday, a holiday for the shops, saw many artisans as busy as usual all over the City. It appears that residents are not content to rest till the city regains normal conditions. Many women and children are still returning. SHOCK FELT IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, April 4. A sharp shock was felt in Wellington about 9.50 a.m. to-day. RECORDED IN WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI, April 4. A short, severe earthquake shock was experienced here at 9.55 this morning. No damage was done.
