CASUALTIES.
MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Press Association MASTERTON, April 5. A miraculous escape from being killed was the good fortune of a Featherston resident, Horace Nelson Tulloch, single, aged about 30, late on Friday night. Tulloch was proceeding over the Rimutakas when his car fell Into a washout, and was precipitated about | 350 feet into a gully below. Tulloch I was rendered unconscious, but later recovering, he walked home, and was admitted to a private hospital, suffering from head Injuries, thirty-seven stitches being inserted. Another occupant of the car escaped with a severe shaking, but was able to walk home. BODY RECOVERED. By Telegraph—Press Association WESTPORT, April 5. The body of william Morris Spiers, who, with Charles Morris Lynch, was drowned in a boating accident in the Buller River beiow Murchison on March 15th, w r as found on Fairdown Beach on Saturday afternoon. KILLED BY SLIP. By Telfig'raph—Press Association WESTPORT, April 5. An inquest was opened on Saturday by Mr E. R. Fox, S.M, touching the death of .John Coutts, who died on Friday at No. 3 camp, Karamea Road. Evidence was given that a slip fell on the camp, carrying Coutts away, j and thp*s his left leg was tom off. He w'as extricated from the debris, and was being conveyed to Mokihinui when he died. The inquest was adjourned sine die. QAR COLLIDIES WITH ’BUS. By Telegraph—Press Association NELSON, April 4. A motor car collided with a motor ’bus at Wakefield Quay late yesterday afternoon. Two occupants of the car were < killed: I Francis B. Galland, aged 48, married, with a wife and six children, and Betty Bothwell, aged five, daughter of Mr David Bothwell, of Manuka Street. Mrs Bothwell, mother of the child, was injured.
