WINCHESTER.
PERSONAL. Messrs Donald and D. G. Sinclair, Winchester, left on Thursday for Dunedin, where they are spending the Easter holidays Mr J H. Anderson left on Saturday for a holiday to be spent in the North Island. Mr G. B. Orbell, Dunedin, is spending the Easter vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs L. H. Orbell, Winchester. Mr and Mrs E. Hayman, Ashburton, and Miss Bernice Barrett, Christchurch, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. C. Barrett. Miss E. A. Clarkson is spending Easter at Ashburton. Mr and Mrs L. O’Shea, Nelson, are camped for the holidays at Winchester. Mr and Mrs J. L. Martin (Auckland), Mrs D. H. Kirk (Auckland), Mr E. Piper (Oamaru), Mr W. McKechnie (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs L. M. Mason (Invercargill), Mr and Mrs F. W. Johnston (Greymouth), and Miss G. Anderson (Waimate) are staying at the Wolseley Hotel for the Easter holidays. Last Thursday evening a dance was held in the Victoria Hall for the benefit of the Hall funds, when there was a good attendance. Extras were played by Miss F. Wilson (Timaru), Mr W. Jackson made an efficient M.C. GOOD FRIDAY SERVICES. Good Friday services were held in St. John’s Church. Winchester, when, despite unfavourable weather, there was a large attendance at the morning service. The evening service, also, was well attended. The Rev. E. C. Crosse conducted the morning service, and the Vicar, Rev. G. Nelham Watson, officiated at the evening service. Yesterday there were large attendances at the Easter services at St. John's Church. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and greenery. Hymns suitable to the occasion were sung. The Rev. E. C. Crosse (morning) and the Vicar, Rev. 1 G. Nelham Watson (evening) officiated 1 at the services. Mrs W. J. Moore t Moore presided at the organ.
