MONOPLANE MISSING.
MAY HAVE BEEN FORCED DOWN. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 22, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 22. Tlie National Airways monoplane “Southern Moon,” piloted by Captain Shortridge, carrying six passengers, which left Sydney yesterday afternoon, had not arrived at Melbourne at midnight. The monoplane was seen over Holbrook, near Albury, about mid-day. Storms on Friday night dislocated telegraph communication. Flight-Lieutenant C. P. Ulm presumes that Captain Shortridge has made a forced landing. STILL NO NEWS. SEARCH BEING ORGANISED. There is still. no news of the missing "Southern Moon,” which was last reported over Wangaratta, in Victoria,, just over the border. Five ’planes are now searching, and If the monoplane is not reported by 4.30 to-morrow’ morning, Air Commodore Kingsford Smith and Flight Lieutenant Ulm will leave in separate ’planes to Join in the search.
