Communal rioting in the United Provinces has assumed serious proportions, eleven being killed and two injured near Muzapore. The trouble started when a Moslem sent a dead calf to a Hindu, upon which the Hindus, armed with guns and spears, raided several Moslem houses. They dragged the people out and killed them, and set fire to the houses. The city of Agra is in panic. Students of Saint John’s College were attacked by butchers with carving knives.
Guerilla warfare developed between the different factions, and necessitated police interference.
