MAGISTRATE’S COURT. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, before Mr d’A. S. Grut, J.P., a man named William Robert McGimpsey was fined 10/- for being drunk on the Waimate racecourse on March 19th. STUD SHEEP. At the Ram Fair held at Addington yesterday, Waimate studmasters were represented. As w r as the case at the principal sale, at Invercargill last year when Romneys came.under the hammer. Mr Alan Grant, “Craigbum," Waimate, realised top price. His entry of a pen of five made 7i guineas, whilst another pen of ten from the same breeder changed hands at 43 guineas. In Border Leicesters, Mr H. Ruddenklau of “Downlands,” sold a consignment of 54. rams at 21 guineas, and 4 at 2 guineas. NATIONAL CONCERT. On Thursday night a concert was staged in aid of St. Patrick's Parish funds at Olympia Hall, this being an anunal fitxure of a national character on the night of the Waimate races. This year’s function provided an excellent programme, and again was attended by a very large audience. Each item was well received, and frequent encores greeted the performers. The opening item for each part of the programme were pianoforte duets of Irish Airs rendered by Misses V. Leonard and K. Kane, whilst the following performers contributed items:— Misses M. Ferriter, K. Kane, K. Cooney, L. Richardson, V. Leonard and K. Fleming, and Messrs Alan Shrimpton, H. C. Foster, H. F. Vincent and M. Friel. Mr Shrimpton’s items merited the encores demanded. The accompanists were Misses K. O’Brien, K. Cooney, Gay Reeve.
