Nearly Half World Supply. TWICE AS MUCH AS FRANCE. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received, March 20. 7.50 p.m). NEW YORK, March 20. The Federal Reserve Board reveals that the United States is holding the largest amount of monetary gold ever held in any country, possessing over twice as much as France, which ranks second, and nearly seven times above the gold reserve of the Bank of England. It is reported that the United States now holds a total of 4,685,000.000 dollars in monetary gold, which is 42 per cent of the total world supply, and which for the first time provides more than dollar for dollar backing for all the currency circulating in the country.
