PLEASANT POINT.
HARVEST HOME BALL. The grand harvest home ball organised by the Messrs Thoreau was a marked success, splendid support being forthcoming from Timaru and surrounding districts. The hall was decorated with wheat, oats, daisies, poppies and cornflowers, the illuminations adding to the effect. The waltzing competition was won by Mr Sullivan and Miss Bond, Mr Joe Brosnan and Miss Smith being runners-up. Surprise prizes were given to—Mrs Crossan, for most fashionable dress, and to Miss Rita William for the prettiest dress. Mrs Hawthorn, Miss Cassidy, J. Currie, Miss Woods and Mr Driscol were other prize winners. Dancing was kept up till a late hour, the singing of Auld Lang Syne concluding an enjoyable function.
