This week’s games in the primary schools’ competition resulted as follows: Senior Grade. South v. Waimataitai.—South completely routed Waimataitai, being superior in all departments of the game. Waimataitai batted first, making 40 runs, the bowling of Ede and Kemp proving unplayable for several of the 1 batsmen. Jack Kemp performed the hat trick with three good balls. In their innings South made 266 in lively style in 90 minutes’ play. Roddick, who opened, made 110, his being the last wicket to fall. Ede made 76 after a good innings, giving few chances. Kemp 14, Dobier 17, and Arnold 11, helped to swell the total. West and Main.—Main made 52 (Bracefield 13), while West declared with five wickets down for 100, including Darby 45, Blair 24 and Riley 16. Moore and Gilmore divided the wickets for West. Junior Grade. Main v. South—South made 51, including Nelson 11 and Chapman 12, while Main made 31. For South, Cowles took three wickets for four runs, Chapman two for 7, Herron two for 8, Stare two for 10. Bowling for Main, de Clifford took six for 17, and Ingram four for 25. West v. Waimataitai. —Waimataitai 79, deefated West 31. For Waimataitai, W. Smith made 18, R. McLauchan 16, A. McLeod 16. McClelland accounted for most of the wickets. This Week’s Games.
