TRAGEDY IN HEART OF CITY.
SUICIDE FOLLOWS BRUTAL MURDER. United Presa Association—By Electrle Telegraph—Coprrlgnt (Received March 4, 9.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 4. A ghastly tragedy was enacted in the heart of the city in broad daylight today. Bert de Brett, aged 47, a returned soldier, who had been separated from his wife, caught her in the Goulbum district, and threw her across his knee and cut her throat with a razor. He then tossed her into the gutter, where she died without uttering *a word. De Brett then gashed his own throat and died on the pavement, within the view of a number of people. The wife, who was aged twenty-seven, had been earning her own living as a waitress In a city cafe.
