ALL FRANCE SHOCKED AT NEWS. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyrlgh t (Received December 28, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, December 27. France is shocked to learn that the condition of Marshall Joffre is desperate, and death is only a matter of days. He forbade, until now, the disclosure that he is suffering from arteritis in the legs. An operation effected temporary improvement. Five specialists state that gangrene has supervened. (Received December 28, 7.30 p.m.) PARIS, December 27. Marshal Joffre’s right leg has been amputated.
