ATHLETICS.
METHODIST HARRIERS. The Methodist Harriers’ seven-mile championship and sealed handicap is to be run next Saturday from the residence of Mr J. Nelson, Harper Street, at 3 p.m. The course selected is ideal for cross-country running, there being everything in the way of variety—roads, grass and ploughed paddocks, hills, creeks and several fences. The trail will be well marked by paper, and flagged at turning points. Officials for the race have been appointed as follows:—Starter, Mr JC. C. Foot; timekeeper, Mr J. Fraser; judges. Revs. H. T. Peat, P. I. Cook, and Mr J. Nelson. The marking out of the course will be in the charge of Messrs A. Foden and W. Beswarick. Four trophies have been allotted, one for the championship, ana three for the placings in the handicap. The following are the entries received to date:—E. Wilson, L. Wilson, D. Drennan, W. Tubb. R. Lund, H. Henry, N. Rose. W. McPhedran, R. Button, S. Blanchard, S. Hurdley, W. Holmes. L. McKessar, E. Sutherland, W. Sterling, R. Vincent, H. Sievwright, T. Mouatt, R. Nelson, N. Tooth, L. Jackson.
