Tom Mix’s dauhgter, Ruth, came prominently into the limelight this wek when she eloped to Arizona, and married Douglas Gilmore, stage and screen actor, strong against her mother’s wishes, as she is only seventeen. However, all is forgiven now, and one writer comments on the bridegroom’s courage, considering his father-in-law is a two-gun Western star! Ruth Mix herself has had screen experience as a rider. She is very bright and attractive looking. And apropos of the wedding an amusing story comes from England. A Frank Gilmore, of Arizona, was rung up (only 6000 miles away!) by a London paper. “Are you married? We would like some details of the wedding.’' “Yes, I’m married,” was the reply, “but how does it concern you?” “Aren’t you Gilmore who married Ruth Mix, daughter of the famous cowboy?” "Wrong number!” was the retort, and the telephone was hung up What does distance count to highpressure news-gatherers? August Ist witnessed a record assembly of residents at the Springbrook School, the occasion being a farewell social to Mrs Webb, who has been a resident in the district for close on thirty years. Mr Cloake explained the object of the gathering, and said it was sufficient testimonial of Mrs Webbs popularity to see the numbers who had turned out to bid her farewell.
