DAYLIGHT SAVING.
TO RELIEVE POWER SHORTAGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 2. A strong appeal for the inauguration of daylight saving at an earlier date was made by Mr Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland P&wer Board. He said that with the milking season beginning, the country districts were crying out for power, which could be supplied by the Auckland Board if the Board was relieved of part of its city burden. Mr Holdsworth said he had been informed by the Hon. W. B. Taverner that he would like to wait for Sir Thomas Sidey to introduce summertime legislation, but it now seemed that it might be a considerable time before Sir Thomas would be able to resume duty. It was very important that daylight saving should be introduced without delay.
