INQUEST.
DEATH OF MR D. J. PEARCE. An inquest into the circumstances surrouncung the aeatn of Dennis James Pearce, wnj aieu sucaeniy at Gien-iti on piiday, was held oefore the District Coroner (Mr C. K. Orr-Walker, S.M.), on {Saturday. (Senior-Sergeant Mathieson conducted proceedings lor me police. Daniel Micnael Pearce, taxi-driver, brother of the deceased, gave evidence of identmcation. He saia that he had been associated with his brother for many years, and his health had always ceiii good. He had nevei required medical attention. Witness last saw his brother, who was 43 years of age, alive on Tuesday last. He was a gardener by occupation. £)r K. D. King said that shortly before 7 a'clocK. on Iriday morning he was called to Glen-iti to the residence of the deceased. On his arrival he found that deceased had died a few minutes previously. He had not attended him at any time, and so could not give a certificate. There was nothing to indicate the cause of death. Witness performed a post-mortem examination, and found that the cause of death was fatty degeneration of the heart, accelerated by an acute attack of pericarditis. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
