WOLVES IN EUROPE.
TERROR IN riJMANIAN TOWNS. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 22, 7.0 p.m.) BUCHAREST, July 22. Wolves are still the terror of midEurope. One big grey hunger-stricken brute, white with lather dripping from his jaws, invaded the yard of the Burlacu family, in Gosshoshan (Bessarabia). Bellowing cattle awakened the sleeping family. Alexandre Burlacu attacked the wolf with a club, but was knocked down, and. bitten in the head. The boy’s mother, with an axe, rushed to the rescue. She also was badly bitten, but drove off the wolf, which jumped a wall. The animal bit other peasants, one of whom was killed, and six sent to hospital. The wolf was finally tracked to the forest, where it was shot. Sixty cows which were bitten, had to be killed to prevent them from going mad.
