ST. ANDREWS

MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The weekly shoot of the St. Andrews Miniature Rifle Club was held on Monday night, when members shot for a trophy presented by Mr R. L. Pugh. T. Lysaght was the winner. The best scores were: T. Lysaght 79, R. Coup 78 C. Hoskin 77. G. Smith 78. H. Pugh 77, J. Gray 77, W. Cague 76, R. Russell 76, J. Lysaght 76. *

THE LIBRARY. A meeting of the St. Andrews Library Committee w T as held on Tuesday night. Present:—Rev. J. Hay (chairman), Mesdames Dellow, O’Loughlin, Misses Hammond, McDonald and Mr H. L. Wimsett. A letter was received from Mr C. F. Higginson resigning the position of librarian. It was decided to place on record both Mr and Mrs Higginson’s services to the library. Messrs G. Wilkes and Hopkins were appointed to fill the vacancies on the committee, and Mrs H. Dellow was elected a member of the selection committee. It was decided to spend £5 on new books. Accounts totalling £7 6s lid were passed for payment.

SCHOOL GAMES. On Tuesday Pareora School basketball and football teams played teams from St. Andrews School on the Domain. The results were: Basketball: Pareora A. 33, St. Andrew's B nil; St. Andrews A. 12, Pareora C. 11. Football.—Pareora A. 9 v. St. Andrews B 6. St. Andrews A. 21, Pareora C. 5. Misses Simcock and O’Callaghan refereed for basketball, and Messrs Hosking and Gray for football.

BIBLE CLASS SOCIAL. The Anglican Bible Class held its mid-winter social on Tuesday evening. There was an exceptionally large attendance, including many members from the Presbyterian and Anglican Bible Classes at Pareora, and the St. Andrews Presbyterian Class. The evening was spent in games and competitions which were most entertaining. Musical items were given by Misses N. Hammond. S. Hay and G. Porter, the accompanists being Misses C. Hay and J. Munro. The Rev. J. Hay expressed pleasure at seeing so many present, and hoped that all had spent a very pleasant time. On behalf of the visitors Mr J. Douglas returned thanks.
