A “SILENT” PROTEST.
ART UNION FOR HOSPITALS. By Telegraph—Press Association WAIPUKURAU, July 16. In view of the Health Department withdrawing subsidies, the following resolution was passed at to-day’s meeting of the Hospital Board: "That the Board enters a silent protest, against the attitude taken up by the Health Department, in withholding subsidies on bequests and donations to Hospital Boards.’’ A second resolution was passed:— “That this Board offers a suggestion that the Department of Health confer with the Minister of Internal Affairs with a view to promoting a Dominionwide art union, the nett profits to be distributed to Hospital Boards pro rata in accordance with the respective capital valuation.” The chairman (Mr W. H. Rathbone) contended that financial assistance for the sick and needy was a greater claim than Aero Club and football art unions.
