ECHO OF TASMAN FLIGHT.
Spiritualist’s Claim. CONVERSATION WITH MONCRIEF. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 15, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. July 15. An extraordinary story is published here concerning a spiritualistic communication with Lieutenant Hood and Captain Moncrief, the ill-fated Tasman fliers. Mr William Trimming, of Merrickville, informed the Civil Aviation Department, that he was sitting in a seance, when Hood spoke to him for five minutes. He said: “We reached Wellington and were then lost in the clouds. We passed over the sea and returned over land. Our petrol ran out, and we crashed in a gully, two hundred yards from the coast, four miles south of Ward, in Marlborough. We died four days later. Moncrieff was badly Injured. I was not so bad. I am in a sitting position, with Moncrieff’s head in my lap.”
