RAILWAY COMMISSION
TO VISIT CITIES ONLY. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 15. It has been arranged that the Royal Commission which has been appointed to investigate the railways position should visit Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. The dates of- arrival will be made known in advance, so that representatives of local organisations and persons might prepare their evidence for the Commission. The Minister of Railways (Hon. W. A. Veitch) stated to-day that, owing to the comprehensive nature of the order of reference, and the limited time within which the Commission must report to the Governor-General, it would not be possible to take evidence from witnesses in the ordinary way, and it would facilitate matters if evidence were prepared in advance in typewritten form.
