NO MORE WORK.
CASUALS RECEIVE NOTICE. By Telegraph—Press Association MASTERTON, July 14. Several men on the district telegraph engineer’s construction staff at Masterton received notice of dismissal. The men affected are casual hands, who were taken on about 10 months ago for special work, which occupied six months. Since the completion of that work the men concerned have been kept on until the present time. It is stated that the men were to finish up to-day. but as final instructions have not yet been received from headquarters, the dismissals may not take effect for a day or two. Representation have been made on behalf of the men. and endeavours are being made to have them retained on the staff, as it is stated there is no lack of telegraph construction work in Wairarapa.
