Kentle, ; Nightlark and Adit fell at intervals, j Mauraki baulked and stopped, and Woomera ran off. Sandhurst went to I the front nine furlongs from home. • closely attended by Moss Trooper, Glentronie, Namera and Good Whisky, while Orange Park was the only other horse in the picture. Approaching the straight Moss Trooper had a five lengths’ lead from Sandhurst, and finishing full of running, won easily by j six lengths from Namera, with about j four lengths separating second and I third. Then came Sandhurst, with | Orange Park a long way back, and J Hungarian and Maxownit not sighted. Only two horses have won the Grand National Hurdles and Steeplechase in the one year, Moss Trooper being the second to do so. He received a wonderful ovation. Time—6min 28*sec. Moss Trooper also previously won the Australian Grand National Hurdles and Steeplechase. The only other horse to win the jumping double in one season was Redleap. ROSEHILL MEETING. Several New Zealand horses had a run at the Rosehill races yesterday, but only Green Mantle was successful. Results:— MAIDEN HANDICAP. Amorist fell after seven furlongs, Mister Gamp fell five furlongs from the post, and Taumai fell at the last fence. Carinthia. who was always well placed, stayed too well for Fine Acre, and won comfortably. WINTER OATS. Of 500 sovs; 1 mile. 6—L. Kelcher’s Taboo, 9.9 (B. Brodie) 1 5 Town Major. 9.9 (W. P. Master Lu and Radiate fell. Son o’ Mine baulked, bringing off the rider of Sir Moment. They were a tired lot over the last half mile, but Matu stayed too well for the outsider, Jen. Time —6min 42sec. ONSLOW HANDICAP, Of 300 sovs; 6 furlongs. 1— J. M. Corcoran’s Havering, 11.4 (H. Marble King was fourth. Havering waited till the straight was reached, then made a run, to win nicely. The winner had to survive a protest on the grounds that he is not trained by the owner, as appeared in the race book, but the protest was dismissed. Time—lmin 16isec. KIA ORA HANDICAP, Of 260 sovs; 5 furlongs. 1— Hodgson and Thomson’s Hunting Call, 9.3 (H. Gray) 1 4 Blue Paper, 10.10 (A. McDonald) . 2 2 Coon Song, 10.12 (T. Green) .... 3 Also ran—s Portray, 3 Crash, 7 Abbey Queen, 6 Win Acre, 13 Acreline, 11 Agrestic, 10 Burnt Note, 9 Killigrew, 8 Pat’s Boy, 12 Rasouli. Won by two lengths, five lengths between second and third. Rasouli was fourth. Won all the way. Time—lmin 2isec. WAIMATE HUNT MEETING. Town Major has been further rehandicapped to 10.13, in the Waimate Handicap at the Hunt meeting. Handicaps for the Grand Nationals and the Winter Cup are due to-morrow. G. Salt, rider of Amorist, broke a collarbone in the Winter Hurdles at Trentham on Saturday.
