THE CHURCHES
There will be celebrations of Holy Communion to-morrow at St. Mary’s at 8 a.m., at St. Michael’s and All Saints’ at 9.30 a.m.; St. John’s at 11 a.m.; and St. Saviour’s at 7.30 a.m.
The usual meeting for men will be held after evensong in St. Mary’s Club Room, when all young churchmen are cordially invited to oe present. At Washdyke, service will be held at 2.30.
The services at Trinity Presbyterian Church will be conducted by Rev. A. J. H. Dow. In the morning, the junior choir will sing, “Love Not the World,” and in the evening the senior choir will render “Magnificat.” The subject of the morning address in Chalmers Church will be “The Heroism of the Christian Life”—the second of a series of studies in Early Church History. The second of the “Problems of Belief”—“Can We Still Believe in Prayer?”—will be discussed at the evening service. The evening anthem will be “Sun of My Soul” (Turner). There will be a service at Claremont in the afternoon.
The Rev. Harold T. Peat will preach both morning and evening in Banx. Street Methodist Church. The morning theme will be “Who are God's People?” and the evening subject, “The Crowning Glory of Mankind.” The choir will render an anthem. The services in Woodlands Street Church will be conducted by the Rev. P. I. Cooke.
“Can the Mediaeval Ideas of Hell be Sustained?” is the question the Rev. C. W. Duncumb will deal with to-morrow night at the Baptist Church, Wilson Street. “Pentecost and Sex” will be the morning subject. The meetings to-morrow will be taken by Ensign Friberg. In the morning the subject will be “Atheniel, the Lion of God,” the first talk on the “Book of Judges.” At night the subject will be “Which is the Best Religion?” a first talk in “Foundation Truths of Christianity.” The Rev. F. J. Shaw will preach at both services in the Congregational Church to-morrow. The morning subject will be “Providence,” and in the evening, “What is a Good Man?” Mr L. Budd will sing “Nearer My God to Thee,” and the choir will sing the anthem, “Break Forth into Joy.”
