STEAMER STRIKES ROCK.

REPORTS BY RADIO. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, July 11The secretary of the General Post Office advises that the following message was received by the Wellington radio station at 8.35 to-day:— “Signals intercepted from the Adelaide radio at 2.39 a.m. indicate that the steamer Iron Crown (call sign V.G.D.K.) struck the Webb Rock, and is sending out distress signals; position 34.59 S. 136.55 half east.

“At 3.31 Adelaide radio advised all stations 'that the Iron Crown had weathered the rock, and was not then In need of assistance. “At 4.3 a.m. Adelaide radio advised all stations that the Iron Crown had made about a mile and a half westward of the rock, and all was clear now.”
