MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday. Present. —Messrs M. F. Maze (president), W. J. Bassett, A. S. Elworthy, H. Elworthy, J. F. K. Jamieson, E. Kelland, W. J. Kelland, G. A. M. Macdonald, M. O’Connor, R. Madden, W. J. Parry, P. Porter, T. R. Rhodes, T. Seaton, A. Ward and Dr P. R. Woodhouse. Late Mr E. R. Guinness. The chairman referred to the death of the late Mr E. R. Guinness, who he said, had been a valued member of the Association for a great number of years. He nad been president in 1896, and during the following years, up to the time of his death had always been associated with any movement for the betterment of the Association. The late Mr Guinness bad been recognised as one of the best judges of horses, and demonstrated particular interest in thoroughbred classes. The sympathy of the Association should be extended to the relatives in their loss. A motion to this effect was carried in silence. General. Advice was recieved of dates for forthcoming shows as follows: —Christchurch Horse parade, October 1; Wairarapa and East Coast, October 29 and 30; North Otago, October 20 and 21; Amberly, October 31; Ellesmere, October 16; Rangiora, November 7. It was decided to write to the Amberly Agricultural and Pastoral Association suggesting that they make their date < October 31), a week earlier, so as to allow competitors desirous of competing at both Amberly and Timaru an opportunity to do so. It was decided to submit March 27th to the South Canterbury Stock Auctioneers Association as <he date for the Timaru Ram Fair. It was left to the Ground Committee to inquire into the cost of providing ten new loose boxes to accommodate light horses at the show grounds.
