ZONING OP BOROUGH OF TIMARU DUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY * GIVEN that it is the intention of the Timaru Borough Council to submit to the Town Planning Board a provisional zoning scheme of the Borough of Timaru defining areas as follows: —

(A). SPECIAL INDUSTRIAL AREA (i.e., for heavy industries necessitating the haulage of heavy quantities of material, noisy industries, dangerous industries, including the manufacture or storage of explosives, including inflammable spirits, oils and gases: and such offensive trades as the Council may permit to be established within the Borough, and also timber yards and other open air depots of materials).

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-west end of Wharf Street following the railway land as far as a straight line being the continuation of the northern boundary of Cliff Street. Westward along this line to the intersection of Turnbull Street and Cliff Street. Southwards along Turnbull Street to North Street. Westwards along North Street to its intersection with Stafford Street. Then southwards along Stafford Street and High Street to the junction of the latter street with Park Avenue. Thence along Park Avenue to its junction with South Street. Southwards and east- | wards along South Street to the sea. (B.) GENERAL, INDUSTRIAL AREA -—(embracing light, and domestic industries such as factories and workshops other than those included _in (A) and such industries as laundries, dairies, builders’ yards, public garages and warehouses).

All that area bounded on the east by Theodocia Street, on the south by a line, say, 2 h chains north of North Street, on the west by LeCren Street, and on the north by a line 2b chains south of Elizabeth Street.

(C.) COMMERCIAL AREA—(including shops, offices, licensed hotels, theatres, dance halls, and places of amusement, and combined warehouses and offices).

All that area bounded on the south by North Street, on the west of Theodocia Street thence along Sefton Street to Hewling Street; also small separate zones as follows: (1) Junction of Waimataitai St., Luxmore Rd., and Evans St. (2) Junction of Newman St., Marchweil St., Hobbs St., and Evans St. (3) Junction of Hewling St., Wai-iti Rd., Evans St., and Stafford St. (4) Junction of Nile St., Quarry Rd., and Grassmere St. (5) Junction of Ranfurly St., Waiiti Rd., and Wai-iti Avenue. (6) Junction of Seddon St., Craigie St., Otipua Rd., and Wai-iti Rd. (7) Each side of Church St., between LeCren and Wilson Sts. | (8) Junction of Church St. W., Rathmore St., Preston St., and Ox-

ford St. (9) Each side of Church St. W., at junction of Otipua Rd. (10) Junction of Otipua Rd. and North St. (11) Junction of Otipua Rd., Hassall St. and Coonor Rd. (12) Junction of King St., Janies St., and Otipua Rd. (13) An area between Cain St., Harper St., and Hassall St., to the depth of the existing sections. (14) Both sides of King St. from High St. to Queen St. (15) An area at the junction of North St., Rhodes St., and LeCren St. The actual lot numbers of the above shopping zones will be determined by Council prior to the proposal being placed before the Town Planning Board. (D.) RESIDENTIAL AREA—(single family dwelling houses and such accessory buildings as garages, places of assembly, schools, residential flats and private hotels as may be permitted by the Council). All that area within the Borough other than that to be included in the above industrial and commercial zones. (E.) SPECIAL RESIDENTIAL AREA —for single family dwellings only. It is not proposed at present to define any special residential area.

NOTE.—The Council is prepared to consider any suggestions, or objections, to the above proposed zoning before submitting the same to the Town Planning Board if such are received by Thursday, the 24th instant. An opportunity will also be afforded by the Town Planning Board, after provisionally approving, but before finally approving the scheme, for any objections thereto to be considered.
