PERSONAL.
Mr J. Bitchener, M.P., and Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., arrived from Wellington yesterday. Mr A. Tyndall, engineer to the Main Highways Board, will leave New Zealand at the end of August to attend the sixth International Road Congress at Washington in October. While there he will make inquiries regarding the cement penetration system of constructing roads, and the information he obtains will be made available to counties and others interested. Under a new policy of offering appointments in the Colonial service to young men in the Dominion, Mr ! Ronald O. Sinclair, LI.M., of Aucki land, has b-jn selected. He has been designated for a post in West Africa. The appointment is the first received by a New Zealander under the policy recently inaugurated. Mr Sinclair’s j father is Rev. W. A. Sinclair, general j secretary of the New Zealand Method- ! ist Foreign Missionary Society.—Press I Association.
