MEAT PRICES.
To the Editor of the “ Timaru Herald." Sir, —I fully agree with your correspondent “Worker,” that meat prices in Timaru are exorbitant in comparison with prices ruling in Christchurch. It seems extraordinary that Timaru people have to pay from 50 per cent, to 100 per cent, more for certain lines. There are other items besides those mentioned by your correspondent, for instance, cooked ham, which is sold in Timaru at 2/10 lb, is obtainable from most shops in Christchurch for 2/- lb. It certainly appears that the public of Timaru are being treated unfairly in this connection, and I am in accordance with “Worker’s” opinion that a substantial price reduction should be made.—l am, etc., ANTI-PROFITEER. Timaru, July 7.
