i MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. The Winchester Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club held their weekly shoot on Thursday evening, when Mr R. WoodI ham’s trophy was competed for. Misses M. and J. Deßenzy both obtained the | possible with their handicaps. In the shoot-off Miss Joan Deßenzy won with 1 75 off the rifle. J The following were the best scores:— I Mrs H. J. Hopkins 75, Mrs C. McClelland 76, Miss M. McKinnon 74, Miss R. South 3, Mrs T. A. Deßenzy 71, Mrs S. Skelton 70, Mrs W. L. Reilly 68, Mrs R. Russell 66, Miss M. Opie 66, Mrs W. Pearce 60. LIBRARY ADDITIONS. Mr H. Andrews commenced last week to build two new rooms to the library. The front part of the building, which has done duty for the past fifty-three years, and is now inadequate for the requirements of the public, has been pulled down and two large rooms are being built. When finished, the patrons of the library will appreciate the committee’s efforts in enlarging the building. PERSONAL. Mi- and Mrs L. H. Orbell, Winchester, are to leave to-day for Dunedin. Mr W. Bradshaw, Clinton, has been appointed stationmaster at Winchester. Mr D. W. Lawson is leaving this week to take the position as stripping clerk at Timaru. Mr J. S. Varcoe, Timaru, is relieving stationmaster at Winchester at present.
