SPEECHES IN HOUSE By Telegraph—Pres* Ac^o^atton. WELLINGTON, July 7. Speakers in the Address-in-Reply debate in the House of Representatives are being put through at double pace, thanks to the improvement in the Standing Orders. There have been twenty-four speeches so far, and the supply is still reported to be adequate to maintain the discussion for at least two days. The Government is desirous of introducing many Departmental reports as a preliminary to early consideration of the Estimates, it being a well observed rule that the votes of any Department are not considered until its annual report is available to members. Four Government Bills are on the Order Paper, and private members have hopefully provided eleven other legislative efforts for consideration. It is expected the division on Mr Coates’s no-confidence amendment will be reached during this week.
