COUNTY CLERKS.

MEETING OF INSTITUTE. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 1. Mr F. C. Perry, of Te Kuiti, clerk to the Waitomo County Council, presided at the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of County Clerks. About 60 Institute members attended, representing counties from one end of New Zealand to the other. The full membership now stands at 104, with 51 Associate members. Mr Harper, of the Department of Internal Affairs, attended on behalf of the Minister, and addressed the members on local body government, local body legislation, and superannuation. Mr A. E. Jull (president) and Mr C. J. Talbot (member of the executive) were present also, as representatives of the New Zealand Counties’ Association. They spoke briefly on matters of common interest to each organisation. For simplicity, the Institute is divided into seven branches—Auckland, Wellington, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay; West Coast; Canterbury-Marl-borough, and Otago-Southland. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr F. C. Perry; vice- | presidents, Messrs F. H. Hudson i (Levin) and G. Kelly (Ashburton); > secretary-treasurer, Mr J. W. Harding I (Hawera); executive, Messrs A. E. Ashi croft (Manukau-Auckland), R. O. Ellis ! (New Plymouth), H. H. Richardson | (Rangitikei), B. G. Signall (Wairoa), ! D. J. Evans (Hokitika), A. A. Readdie (Geraldine), and R. K. Gardiner j (Waitaki). The president, vice-presidents and secretary were re-elected unoDposed.
