THE WEATHER.
F. L. Wooles. Wind, moderate to fresh south to east. Weather somewhat unsettled, but mainly fair and cold. Outlook for week ending June 9:—Wind mainly easterly to southerly; weather more or less unsettled, and cold, showery at times. Dominion Meteorologist. An anti-cyclone extends from southern New Zealand to Tasmania. An intense cyclone is centred off the South Coast of New South Wales. .Winds, moderate to strong, southerly to southeasterly, reaching gale force at places, later backing to easterly and northeasterly north of New Plymouth and Napier, Seas in New Zealand waters rough south of East Cape and in Cook Strait, elsewhere moderate. Tasman sea, strong south-east to north-east winds later reaching gale force in the eastern Tasman Sea, with rising seas. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with much mist and in places fog. Rain becoming general except In Westland and Otago, with some heavy falls within the next two days. There will be cold temperatures in the south.
